Dear fellow pro-life student,

Based on my experience of displaying GAP at Cornell, I strongly encourage you to display it at your campus. If you are sick of apathy among the students about abortion, if you are tired of people who hear your arguments and go right on thinking that abortion is "a woman's right", if you want to change hearts and save lives, then GAP is for you.

Most people have never seen the reality of what abortion does to the unborn child (or to the woman, for that matter). They have lived much or all of their lives in a society that considers abortion to be a fundamental right.
When we step up to them and explain why it is wrong, we might as well be trying to tell them that it's wrong to allow women to vote or to drive your car: they consider it on par with those rights. These pictures, along with the powerful analogy to various forms of genocide, cuts right through the rhetoric and the prejudice and appeals to their consciences. It changes minds.

At first, we thought it would be difficult to bring GAP to Cornell. As it turned out, it was relatively easy. We were completely up front with the administration about what we wanted to do and all of the details and they considered it to be a matter of free speech. It went off without any violence or incident, although we did make sure we had police there at all times. It's true that it has been a struggle to bring it to some campuses, but I urge you to at least give it a try at your campus, you may be pleasantly surprised. In addition, our group (the Cornell Coalition For Life) is a small organization. We typically have only a handful of people at our meetings. Yet, GAP helped to solidify our group and we had people who rarely come to meetings who were willing to help out, and we easily had enough people to staff the display.

During the actual display hours, only a few people actually came up to discuss or debate the issue with us. However, hundreds of people stopped and were greatly affected by the pictures. You could see on their faces how
they were carefully considering the morality of abortion in their hearts. We even had a few people come right out and say they were reconsidering their position on abortion.

Once again, please considering bringing GAP to your campus! You will be very glad you did.

For Life,
Sean Breheny
