The Genocide Awareness Project was on campus at the University of Michigan on September 25 and 26, 2000.

GAP's prominent location on the University of Michigan Diag ensured thousands of passing visitors. Mark Harrington, who directs CBR's Midwest office, found himself in front of many interested students. Jewel Logan, a CBR volunteer from California, braves the Michigan cold to help spare students the pain of abortion. Greg Davis, a Jewish staff member, explains why it is appropriate for CBR to compare abortion to the Holocaust.
Most students have never adequately considered the pro-life position, and CBR staff and volunteers take great pains in providing as thorough a defense as possible. Fletcher Armstrong and a pro-life, UM student provide listeners with plenty of solid reasoning. With cameras rolling (and clicking), there was plenty of student debate for local news affiliates to cover. Those protesting GAP's visit were very diligent in their marching and chanting (with signs at left), but they were unable to meaningfully interfere with the discussions taking place.
Mark Harrington walks students through the early stages of embryonic and fetal development as illustrated in this GAP sign. Ann Arbor offered a host of local pro-life students who proved quite adept at defending the pro-life position against vacuous pro-abortion claims. This group of pro-abortion students failed in their attempted sit-in, and were soon escorted out by university police. For all the claims that pro-aborts make about GAP not changing any minds, there continues to be no shortage of vain attempts made to try and forcibly shut the exhibit down. GAP's two story exhibit is almost impossible to miss and even harder to ignore.
Leon Collins, a CBR volunteer from New Jersey, faces off with some adamant abortion supporters. As is too often the case, this student offers a conclusion, "Abortion is not Genocide", without providing any rationale for making such a claim. CBR, on the other hand, works hard to provide both the visual and factual proof necessary to compel passersby that, "Abortion is Genocide." Many members of UM's Students for Life group (which sponsored our visit) had opportunity to engage their classmates in this crucial debate. For some UM students, our visit became official school curriculum as this class takes notes on their impression of our massive exhibit. Jane Bullington, from CBR's Southeast office, looks on.
